KMUD loves me too!

I wrote this letter to KMUD (now I realize I should have actually taken a picture of the letter, which was handwritten with love by moi, and therefore awesome - OK, I'm pushing it a little, but it was at least sort of awesome).

And in return I got this:

Mike tells me I'm "a dork" for thinking this is some kind of sign that KMUD loves me too, since I, um, included the envelope with postage and my address written on it; and, well, I specifically requested this sticker. But, I seriously was expecting NO RESPONSE because they are busy, and I only requested one sticker. I got two, y'all. Proof that they love me too.

In other KMUD-related news, Mike told me last weekend that I "validated him" with my love for KMUD. Because when he first came out to Wisconsin he was like, "Let's listen to KMUD on the computer," and I was like, "We have community radio stations here too," and he was like, "Not like KMUD."

Dudes, he was totally right. (OK, I think I've been reading Your Ill-Fitting Overcoat's blog "too much" lately because now I have adopted her "dudes" phrasing that she is so fond of. If not that, then it came from my fellow Californians, because you know that stereotype about talking like a "valley person" - more PC than valley girl since guys here do it too - well, it's totally true. Teenagers in Wisconsin and grown-ups in California talk the same. I kid you not.)

I Heart KMUD

I'm listening to KMUD (kmud.org) and I have to say I've never felt so attached to a radio station before. Real live people, not the deejays like on corporate radio stations, they talk about real issues, they play a really eclectic mix of music, and I discover a lot of extremely talented musicians and artists I wouldn't otherwise have discovered.

My current favorite shows include the Hawaiian/Jawaiian one on Tuesday at 4:00PM, the trance show on Thursdays at 2:30PM, the eastern music show on Thursdays at 4:00PM, and the early morning shows on most mornings, when they play really positive music with a beat that makes you want to jump out of bed and move your feet.

Edited to add: I also love the "Audio Archive" feature on their website, so if I don't like what they have on currently or I miss one of my favorite programs (or I want to listen to some of the late-night programs, which are often really good, but I'm not up at midnight), I can listen to them anytime! Gotta love technology.
